Archive for March, 2011

When I saw this weeks MIM from PTI I knew I had to play along. The technique is the same one I learned at the Scrap-a-thon a couple of weeks ago. Such a great way to create a different yet very simple background.
Thanks for visiting me. Make sure and check out what the rest of the participants created too.

Today was such a beautiful day here in Sweden. Spring is beginning to be felt in the air here and the sun is slowly causing the earth to soften and yield to crocuses and daffodils. It feels especially nice after the cold and snowy winter, the likes which we have not experienced while living in Portland. We just had to get out for a while to enjoy the sunshine.

With two little ones every outing seems to bring its fair share of trials, but at the end of the day I was so grateful that we didn’t just stay home (we’re real homebodies) and that we didn’t just settle for a walk (easy way out), but instead we headed to Gothenburg. While we didn’t stay long, it was still so nice to do something different. And not to worry, once we came home we were able to fit in a walk too. =)

I wanted to share my very favorite card I created during the Scrap-a-thon last weekend. Perhaps I should save it for some sort of grand finale Scrap-a-thon post (LOL) but sometimes you just have to share your happiness with others.

I practiced with my copics on the fabulous tulip image from Papertreyinks “Friendship Jar Spring Fillers”. Oh it was so much fun! I shamelessly tried to emmulate Debbie Olson’s beautiful coloring job on that same image. It took me over an hour and I know there is so, so much to learn but I just think it’s the cat’s meow! ha ha. Copics has got to be the most fun craft supply I’ve used in a long time. Fun, fun, fun! I even did some sowing on my card for the first time ever. You’ll be seeing that again for sure.

Here’s a close up too:

I can tell you that I look forward to try this again. There is something so rewarding in learning new things. Now that I have my own little craft space to work in, I hope that I’ll get lots and lots of practice.

And just for fun I have to show you the same image taken with my iPhone Instagram app.

So sweet. And did I mention FUN?! =)

Hi there,

Can you believe it’s been over six months since I last seriously blogged?  That was right around the time we started to get serious about preparing for our international move from Portland, OR to Vårgårda, Sweden. With two little kids (age 2 and 1) it was quite the task to stay organized. So anything  we didn’t really need got packed and ready as quickly as possible. My craft supplies fit right into that category. And to be honest, I had little to no motivation to make cards just then either. I was too stressed about all the things that needed to get done.

Well, fast forward to March 2011. We are settled into our new home and my craft supplies are all unpacked in my very own craft room!! Yes, it’s amazing and true! And to help kick start my creativity I participated in a local Scrap-a-thon, hosted by  Scraptrion (my sister + two friends). It went from 10am to 10pm and I remember thinking that there is no way I can Scrap/make cards/be creative for that long! Well, 10pm rolled around and I was bummed it was already over.

This was the view from my space at one of the tables. 40 crafty ladies, tons of paper crafts supplies, good food and fun conversations. I have not been so inspired to craft since I don’t know when!! I participated in as many challenges as I could and I even made a Scrap page. Oh it was soooooooo much fun! To be surrounded by so many women who are just as crazy about paper crafts as me was just fabulous!

This little card pretty much sums up how I felt that day. I was so filled with joy over the chance of spending time doing something I enjoy so much but don’t always have the time or energy for. And to do it together with my sister, that was just the icing on the cake. =)

This is a simple one layer card. What I like about it the most is that it’s the result of me simply playing with my inks and stamps. No plan, no reason, just play. That’s a great way to grow as a stamper.

I’ll be posting more cards from the weekend soon.

Thanks for stopping by,

Sara

It’s time

It’s time to breathe new life into this blog of mine. After a busy fall, preparing and executing an international move I am ready to get creative again. Or perhaps I should say I NEED to get creative again.

Here’s a hint of what I’ve been up to.

I’ve added some Copic markers to my craft arsenal and I thoroughly enjoy using them. It’s going to take a lot of practice, but that’s hardly a problem when coloring is so much fun.

On Saturday I will be attending an all day Scrap-a-thon. I cannot wait to put these images onto some cards. Stay tuned.
Thanks for stopping by,

Sara
