Archive for July, 2009

We have stifling hot weather (99F-102F) here in Portland, OR this week. Not something this pregnant lady enjoys very much! That means seeking out air conditioned places to hang out all day with my little toddler. So, the cards you've been seeing lately were made last week as it is difficult to get anything done that requires movement!! =) However, I am hopeful this shall pass quickly!!

I made this little guy (3.5" x 3.5" Square) at the same time as this card. I think it would make a nice little gift tag.  I stamped the butterfly on Melon Mambo card stock with versa mark ink and then I carefully cut it out. Then, for additional interest I stamped the little polka dots on top of it, using Whisper White Craft ink. I thought it still looked a bit bland so I took my 2-way glue pen and brushed a thin layer over the entire butterfly (after the craft ink was dry of course). Then I poured a bit of glitter on top. It's quite sparkly in person. The brackets, along with the butterfly and the polka dots are all from the set "For all you do". I told you there were many uses for this set. =) The sentiment is from "Pocket Silhouettes".

It's really hard to see in this picture, but I did add two score lines to the bottom of the card as well. It adds a bit of elegance to an otherwise very simple card.

Stay cool and enjoy the Summer while its here. I will try to do the same.

Seems like one can never have too many thank you cards on hand. However, even when I do have them, I forget to send them!! That is of course another issue altogether. I think I'll keep making them with the hope that someday, I will be better at using them too.

P1030276

This card started out with the idea of using my Curly Label Punch to create a window opening. I love this punch so much, it adds such a fresh look. A bit of faux stitching around the shape of the opening adds a bit of interest. For the inside of the card I used Pocket Silhouettes. Doesn't it look so cute! =)

Last I used a strip of Whisper White card stock and my fun Scallop Edge Punch. It gives the card that tiny bit of extra sweetness.

Thanks for visiting,

P1030270-1

Got to spend some more time in my re-organized craft space last night. Sure is nice to have everything in its place. Makes it easy to get straight to the fun part when I do have the time.

This is a a very simple card that would be easy to reproduce for different occasions. Just change the sentiment and you're ready to go! Perfect when you need a card but are out of time to make a really elaborate one. And lets face it, the simple ones always tend to look more elegant…at least in my humble opinion. =)

P1030268

Here are the details:

  • Cut a 5" x 5" square out of Whisper White card stock
  • Add two score lines made with a ruler and a bone folder (or your paper cutter if it has a scoring blade attachment). The photo at the top gives you the best view of these subtle lines.
  • Punch out 6 butterflies, one in each of the six new "In Colors" from Stampin Up! (The one I used is a Martha Stewart Craft punch)
  • Stamp pattern with white craft ink on the butterflies using the polka dot stamp from the set "For all you do"
  • Add sentiment in Basic Black from the set "Upsy Daisy"
  • Adhere butterflies with dimensionals

I really enjoyed working with the new "In Colors". These are only available from July 2009 thru June 2010. They are very bright and it stretched my imagination quite a bit to figure out how to use them. But that is the point, to get out of your comfort zone and make something new. I am really pleased with the clean and simple result.

Hope you like it too! Have a wonderful day.

Dill Blossom

I got the "Dill Blossom" paper pad from s.e.i. not too long ago and I've been meaning to make a card using these gorgeous papers for some time now. If you're anything like me, you also have patterend papers, chipboards, stamps and all manner of fun craft supplies lying around that you just "had to have" cause it caught your eye in the store that day! The trick is to get around to using it. Though I could just flip through that pad of papers over and over again, what fun is it if I don't cut into it? ha ha

What I made is by no means anything groundbreaking!! =) I see cards made with punched out squares all the time, but it really looks great when the papers go together. Take a look!

I found that the patterned paper worked really well with SU!'s Cameo Coral and Blush Blossom card stock so that is what I ended up using for my card base. The letters are Thickers from American Crafts and the butterfly was made using a Martha Stewart punch and SU! Chocolate Chip card stock.

Really simple.

I'll be back tomorrow with another card.

Finally a new post!! Can you believe how long its been? I never meant to let my blog sit idle for months!! But sometimes life throws a surprise at you, such as finding out that you're pregnant again!! Things like that just might slow things down for a bit. Another little boy is more than welcome to this family of ours and I look forward to his arrival in November. Yay!!

Well, my blog is back up and running now and I have some other fun news to share with you too! Drumroll please…last week I signed up to become a Stampin Up! demonstrator!!! Fun!!! Yes, I have been a fan of their products for a long time and decided to take the chance and become a demonstrator for this fun, innovative company. And just yesterday I received my first shipment from Mr. Brown. What could be a better incentive to get you back in the creative saddle but a handful of new stamps?

Here's a little something I threw together tonight.
